 What is needed now?

* To build a shelter for one family would cost in material  350 US$

* Average cost for food and water supply for one family:  130 US$ per month

☼ 10 x 35 US$ would help a whole family to have a save shelter. ☼

☼ 10 x 13 US$ would feed a family for one month. ☼

Don't forget that international relief service is not regularly distributed to every village. First aid remains being first aid - for the rest of the time people have to find their own way.

Every distribution counts and helps to improve the current situation.

The village of Gwaltar, District of Sindhuli has 700 inhabitants and is located 135km east of Kathmandu. Attitude 700m above sea level. A four hours drive from Kathmandu - if the road is ok.

In the village 50% of the houses are totally damaged and another 40% of the houses are out of order, where people cannot stay any more. All houses are made in the traditional way using mud and stone. Therefore people are surveying life under the basic tent given by UNHCR and other organization but its still not save in particular for elderly people and children  - with the monsum season just some weeks away!

There are 150 households in the village who need a temporary but good shelter like metal roof or a good quality tent house where people can live comfortably and can keep food safe. This kind of shelter should be durable at least for one year. After one year people may have had the chance to recuperate their homes or to built new ones.

Temporary shelter at Gwaltar. Not save during Monsum season.
